Peewee A
Does it get any closer than a three-way tie for first place? Yes, in fact it does.

There are five teams within three points of top spot in the West, including three clubs – the Vaughan Rangers (12-2-3, 27 points), Avalanche (13-3-1, 27 points) and Toronto Wolverines (13-5-1, 27 points) – in a dead heat at 27 points.

With the three leaders idle over the extended weekend timeframe, the Humberview Huskies (12-4-2, 26 points) and West Mall Lightning (11-6-2, 24 points) were able to narrow the gap. The teams played to a 2-2 tie on Friday, before both earning victories on Sunday (Huskies: 2-1 W vs. Toronto Royals; Lightning: 4-2 W at Duffield Devils).

Pardon the pun, but the Leaside Flames are hot. The East-leading Flames (15-4-1, 31 points) extended their winning streak to seven games Friday with a 4-3 decision over North Toronto.

The added cushion is welcome news for the Flames, as two teams in their rearview mirror are closer than they appear.

The Scarborough Ice Raiders (12-1-4, 28 points) – who were idle over the weekend – hold three games in hand, while the Goulding Park Rangers (11-4-4, 26 points) also have a one-game edge.

Two other clubs – the Toronto Aeros (13-7-0, 26 points) and Don Mills Mustangs (12-6-2, 26 points) – also pulled closer with points over the weekend. The Aeros defeated the Toronto Aces 6-1, while the Mustangs played to a 3-3 tie with York Mills.
