Staying consistent with the 2016 NHL Draft, a total of 15 GTHL graduates were drafted by 11 different NHL teams at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Mississauga Steelheads standout Owen Tippett was the lone first-round pick after being selected 10th overall by the Florida Panthers.
A total of six different GTHL Clubs had alumni selected, with the Don Mills Flyers and Mississauga Rebels leading the pack at three. The 2015 OHL Cup winning Toronto Marlboros had two players represented with forward MacKenzie Entwistle selected 69th by the Arizona Coyotes, and Matthew Strome – younger brother of Dylan and Ryan – taken by the Philadelphia Flyers at 106th overall. Each of the 15 players drafted had at least one former GTHL teammate also selected.
