Timekeeper Clinics

Timekeeper clinics provide new (Junior), Intermediate and Senior and/or house league timekeepers with initial timekeeper qualification or annual recurrent training. These clinics are coordinated and hosted by the by the Greater Toronto Hockey League’s Officiating Development department.

  • We are offering brand New timekeepers and those that have only one year of experience the chance to participate during our Referee Summer Camp with both classroom and hands on sessions.
  • Intermediate sessions are designed for those timekeepers that currently have 2-3 years of experience.
  • Senior’s will re-certify at the Senior session and must have 4 or more years of experience.

Participants receive a clinic workbook, a Hockey Canada referee’s case book/rule book and a GTHL officiating program crest.

Interested persons may apply for a timekeeping position through their league President, Referee-in-Chief, Referee Coordinator or equivalent. Timekeeper selection is done by host’s Referee-in-Chief, Referee Coordinator or equivalent.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a new registrant in the Hockey Canada Registry you must associate a member (yourself) to your account. If you cannot find yourself in a search, you must create a new member profile on the “member not found” page. Each member in the registry must hold his or her own email address. You can not register your account using someone else’s email address.


Junior Timekeeper

The Junior TimeKeeping Course is for brand new timekeepers and those that have one year of timekeeping experience. This course will take place during the GTHL’s Referee Summer Camp in August. Timekeepers will not only be trained in the classroom but will also be scheduled to keep time during the games that take place in the evening of the course. This course is designed to enhance timekeepers with a better understanding of duties and procedures. Dinner will be provided during this session. The participants will dine with the referee campers.

Cost of the session is $35. No Cancellations- no refunds. Please be advised that this course does not automatically get you a position within any of our House League programs. You must secure a job as a timekeeper on your own.

Intermediate Timekeeper

The Intermediate Timekeeping Clinic is designed for timekeepers with 2-3 years of timekeeping experience. This clinic will touch on the important points of Timekeeper duties, responsibility and procedures. The application of general and specific rules will be addressed in addition to game sheet completion and management.

Senior Timekeeper

The cost of the Senior TimeKeeping Clinic is $25. This session is for those with 3+ years of timekeeping experience and will address the more complex and difficult aspects of TimeKeeper processes and procedures. The finer points of game sheet completion and game sheet management. Please be advised that this course does not automatically get you a position within any of our House League programs. You must secure a job as a timekeeper on your own.
