Bell Challenge CupThe Tournament
The Bell Challenge Cup hosts the most talented Peewee players from Canada and the USA. Since 1979,
graduates from this tournament include Eric Lindros, Adam Graves, Ron Tugnutt, Brendan Shanahan, Bryan Berard,
and the list goes on. The talent is so great, even famed CBC personality Don Cherry frequents the tournament to
take in the exciting action. Our title sponsor and partner, Bell Canada is an integral part of this tournament
as well as a strong supporter of grassroots hockey in Canada. Their involvement has made this tournament into
one of the best in the world.
OHL Cup
The OHL Cup Showcase Tournament features the top minor midget teams from Ontario, along with selected teams
from the U.S.A. Invitations for the tournament will be extended to the champion and finalist from each division of
the Ontario Hockey Federation and branches of the OHF, ODHA and Thunder Bay.
All T.B.A. teams will be selected by the Tournament Selection Committee. In the event that a league/association
champion or finalist does not take advantage of their qualification, the vacancy will similarly be determined by
the Tournament Selection Committee.
Midget All-Star Festival
One hundred and twenty of
Toronto's best Midget players will treat fans to
an entertaining triple-header of hockey action, at
the GTHL Midget All-star Festival, Jan. 26,2008 at the
Herb Carnegie Centennial Centre. The format
consists of Midget A, AA and AAA players
hand-picked from around the GTHL.Directors of player development uses November and December
to observe and evaluate the players on their physical play, offence, defence skills, positioning and skating. Their
evaluation process will include a 28 member panel grading the players. During this process independent evaluators working
under the stewardship of Herb Ebisuzaki, Techinical Director of Coaching Programs for the GTHL. Hundred of hours were
required to these dedicated individuals in viewing the countless games involving all of the member organizations' Midget
teams and players
Juvenile 'AAA' All-Star Games
2006 was the beginning of the league's Juvenile All-Star games. All players are eligible to play in these games as selected
by their coaches. The Coaching Staff is determined by the teams standings at a particular time in the season.
Selection Process The coaches observe and evaluate the players on their physical play, offence, defence skills,
positioning and skating. The Coaches evaluation determines which players are eligible in one of two categories. The Rookies
game is for all first year Juvenile players. The retiring Juvenile, those in their last year of league play are eligible
to play in the second game. The coaches choose 6 players in each category and submit their names to the Juvenile forum, then the players
are selected to participate in the game. Players are nofified of the team they will play on by the coaching staff of the teams.
The 2007-08 game will be played on February 2, 2008.
King Clancy Tournament
In 1936-37, the King Clancy Tournament was born. No matter where they finished or how early they were eliminated in Regular SEries compeition, everytbody started from scrach in the Clancy Series.
This tournament is open yearly to Non Play-off "A" teams from the GTHL, SHA and MHL as well as Non Play-Off "AA" &
"AAA" teams from the GTHL. All other teams must receive approval from tournament officials before start of tournament.
