House League coaches enter at the Coach Stream, while 'A', 'AA' & 'AAA' Coaches enter at Development 1. There is no longer an NCCP Theory Course.
Please choose one of the following:
CBET- Coach Stream for House League Coaching 2005-06
Hockey Canada's Coach Stream is the certification required by the Greater Toronto Hockey League for all House League Coaches to be on the hockey bench. This is an 11 hour course that includes:
- Supporting the athlete through communication
- Teaching skills and progressions in the training environment
- Designing and delivering practices
- The game environment and game day preparations
- A down loadable Pre-Course Task that must be competed and taken to the course
The PRETASK is designed to prepare and focus on the course and will help establish competencies
in the course material. It must be done and presented at the start of the course. To download

Also included is certification for Hockey Canada's "Speak Out" & Harassment and Abuse. During the hockey season as part of the educational compnent of CBET, coaches who complete the Coach Stream will be mentored by phone or email by a GTHL Mentor. Please check with the host for cost of this training session. If you wish to attend one of the clinics you must be 16 years and older and register with the host contact.

CBET - Development 1 for 'A', 'AA' & 'AAA' Coaching 2005-2006
The Greater Toronto Hockey League's Development 1 (Revised Intermediate Level) is the certification required by Hockey
Canada for all 'A', 'AA' & 'AAA' hockey coaches to be on the bench. This is a 16.5 hour course that includes:
- Team building with athletes
- Teaching Hockey Skills and Progressions
- Designing a Seasonal Plan with Practices
- Goaltending
- Offensive and Defensive, Individual and Team Tactics
- Transition from game to practice
- 4 hours on ice with coaches designing and delivering sessions
Also included is certification for Hockey Canada's "Speak Out" & Harassment and Abuse. For coaches who wish a
more in depth program there is an optional downloadable Post Course Workbook on the GTHL Website to help coaches focus on
their hockey season. However, for coaches who wish to attend the Development 2, they must successfully complete and present
at registration this post course workbook.
During the hockey season as part of the educational component of CBET, coaches who complete the Development 1 will be
mentored by phone or email by a GTHL Mentor.

CBET - Development 2 for 'A', 'AA' & 'AAA' Coaching 2005-2006
The topics included in the D2 course include:
Game Analysis
Seasonal Planning
Bench Management
Offensive Team Play, Defensive Team Play
Mental Preparation
Off-ice Training, On-Ice Sessions
These topics will be presented to experienced coaches who are coaching older more experienced players. The aim of the D2 is
built on the D1 with in depth material to challenge the coach and the players they are developing. Applicants to the D2
will be selected on a criteria that includes:
Must possess a GTHL D1 or Intermediate Level Certification
Must be coaching age gropus at the Bantam level or older
Applicants must complete the application form and include with the application a cheque for $200.00 for the course and
course materials. Applicants not selected will receive a full refund. Upon receipt of the application and fees, successful
applicants will be directed to submit their D1 Post Task at a designated time. Post Task will not be returned. Be sure to
make a copy. Failure to submit D1 Post task will resuld in removal from course with a refund subject to an administration
fee of $25.00.
D1-CBH applicatns are not required to submit a D1 Post task but must be competent with the D1 Post Task content. The same
applies to Intermediate Level Applicants.
Following the D2 clinic, successful participants will be D2 qualified and will not be required to do anything further.
However, participants will have the option of pursuing the second stage of D2 the Field Evaluation.
Development 2 - Optional Field Evaluation
Participants who select this Field evaluation option, at the completion of the D2 course work will have 1 year to submit
the D2 Post Task along with a cheque for $200.00 to start the Field Evaluation and D2 Post Task assessment. This fee is non
refundable once this process has started and a GTHL Mento has been assigned to the participant.
Participants who successfully complete the Field Evaluation will be D2 Certified.

CBET - Initiation Program: Skills First Programs 2005-2006
The Initiation Program is a skills first approach to hockey. Hockey fundamental are included in a manual with 3 progressive levels, based on, one hour lesson plans that assist the beginner to become the accomplished player. This is a 4-6 hour program and is mandated by Hockey Canada for younger players entering into hockey. During the hockey season as part of the educational compnent of CBET, coaches who complete the Initiation Program will be mentored by phone or email by a GTHL Mentor. Please check with the host for the cost of this training session.

"Speak Out" Harassment & Abuse Seminar 2005-2006
All coaching staff are required by HC to take this certification. This 3.5 hour course will help with the life long skills in communication and interacting with all participants especially players in the hockey environment. Please check with the host for the cost of this training session.

National Coach Mentor Program 2005-2006
This HC training session focuses on those individuals in your hockey association that everyone goes to with a question. Practice planning, drill design and problem solving are some of the Mentoring workshop content. Please check with the host for the cost of this training session.
