Respect In Sport Online Parent Program

NOTE: This course is different from the Speak Out equivalent found under the Coaches tab of our website.

The GTHL is pleased to provide, in partnership with Respect Group Inc., an educational tool that furthers our commitment to fostering a safe and fun hockey environment for players and parents.

The Respect in Sport Online Parent Program is an in-depth one-hour online program geared toward providing the parent with information on how to evaluate and understand:

  • parental influence over a child;
  • coach and leader roles in sport;
  • parent and coach roles in a child’s enjoyment of a sport; and
  • protecting your child when they are out of your immediate control.

Furthermore, this program highlights five key “behavioural traps” frequently exhibited by parents – particularly in competitive sports – and touches on the subjects of nutrition, rest, injuries, and dealing with coaches, officials and other parents.

We encourage all GTHL parents to take advantage of this valuable online education tool.
